BCSC Winter Tera Tour continues to sail with three of our juniors competing in this weekends (5-6th Nov) Royal Torquay Yacht Club Junior Regatta.
Faye, Sarah and Alex sailed in a mixed class of 22 boats including Tera Sports, Toppers, Topper 4.2’s and Qubas.
Our three juniors sailed incredibly well in what can only be described as extreme wind, far from the usual sailing conditions enjoyed at Oddicombe. Saturdays weather was northerly, 16 gusting 23 kts and Sunday was rather windier with gusts reported well over 30kts. Needless to say, we have had a few bumps and bruises, a few capsizes but most importantly some happy sailors just pleased to get round the HUGE course!
Both days was sailed on a large sausage shaped course making the downwind stretch rather tricky and each session was over 3.5 hours long. Don’t worry, we did not make them de-rig their boats!
Well done to all, great results and so nice to see our juniors enjoying their sailing and competing well with other sailing clubs. Weather permitting, next week the tour moves back to Paignton sailing club with the Southwest Youth Training Academy.
