Learn to Sail

New courses starting in 2026. Please contact us for availability and dates: babbacombe.corinthians@gmail.com

Possibly the quickest and easiest way to learn to sail is by using dinghies.

Small boat “dinghies” are easy to handle and generally light to launch and transport. After you have learned to sail, you can sail in your own single-handed boat or in a two-person boat with a trained crew member.

Learning to sail is great fun, and at BCSC our RYA-approved volunteer instructors offer regular opportunities throughout the season to join a course and learn. We offer beginner instruction for adults and juniors, and our courses are competitively priced, especially for new members. After completion, you can join in our regular sailing sessions where you can learn to race or just social sail. You are not left alone; our instructors and experienced sailors are always on hand to offer advice.

As an RYA-approved Training Centre, our lessons are taught using the RYA National & Youth Sailing Scheme. This syllabus allows you to continue your learning far beyond just learning to sail, and is a great way to acquire your sailing knowledge safely.
