BCSC Kayak and SUP Group

Don’t think that dinghy sailing is all that is available from Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club (BCSC), as we are a thriving water sports club offering a range of in and out-of-water activities.  Prominent among these is the Kayak and Stand-up Paddling Boarding (SUP) group.

After completing your Membership, Kayak & SUP owners can enjoy all the general benefits of BCSC membership, including the use of both the ‘Top’ Clubhouse in St. Marychurch and the magnificent, newly constructed Beach Clubhouse overlooking Oddicombe Beach.  For an additional extra charge, there is the facility to store your own craft as we have secure storage, for up to 40 kayaks or SUP, in compounds on both sides of the beach club house.  Please get in touch with us to see if there is space available.

Before taking a ‘paddle’ from Oddicombe Beach, members can change and leave their belongings securely in the beach clubhouse, for which you will need to pay a Beach Clubhouse Access fee per person.  The coastline, to the left or right of the club, is perfect for exploring.  Go north, and Teignmouth is within easy reach. You may be lucky and see ‘Sammy’ the seal and his harem on the way.  To the south is Anstey’s Cove, Hope’s Nose, The Orestone and, for those wanting to venture further afield, the whole of Torbay.

On your return from your trip, there are facilities for washing off your craft, and then you can shower and make yourself a hot drink in the club ‘galley’ if you have an access fob.

We also have a WhatsApp group specifically for kayak and SUP members, being a great way to contact others who may be considering getting out on the water for a trip and would welcome company.  We do not encourage people to go out on their own, and we have some guidance in our ops doc, available on the website.

If you are interested in joining the club and keeping a kayak or SUP at Oddicombe Beach, please contact us at babbacombe.corinthians@gmail.com.
