Oddicombe Beach Sea Swimming

We are delighted to have teamed up with Oddicombe Beach Sea Swimming (aka Oddicombe Rubber Duckers) who offer BCSC members* Open-Water sea swimming sessions every Saturday morning, weather permitting.

For all ages and abilities, whether you just want to dip, are keen to progress your open-water swimming, or are training for open-water events.

*Attending these swimming sessions does not incur extra costs, but any member wishing to use the bottom clubhouse and changing/shower facilities must pay the Beach Clubhouse access fee through MMJ.

Other events

  • Wednesday, 3rd July, 7th August, 4th September and 2nd October.
  • Start time 6.30 pm Oddicombe Beach, safety briefing 6.15 pm.
  • Three distances will be set, so if you wish to use these events to gain more experience in swimming in open water or use them as a time trail for future events, these are for you.
  • Choose a 500m shoreline course, 750m 1 lap or 1500m 2 lap course.
  • There will be a one-hour cut-off time for all three distances.
  • Wet suits and tow floats are not compulsory. It is recommended to wear wetsuits if the water temperature is less than 14°C, and if you do not regularly swim ‘skins’ in open water, wetsuits do give more buoyancy.
  • Fees £5 cash payable on the day.
  • The event will be cancelled if sea conditions are unfavourable(Easterly winds are unsuitable).
  • On-water safety team.

**please note: BCSC is not liable or responsible when undertaking these sea swimming activities. Any decision to swim is solely down to the member.  Any queries should be discussed directly with Amelia Hall from Oddicombe Beach Sea Swimming.
