Junior Sailing

***Do to the increase in people looking for Covid safe activities that can be enjoyed in the fresh air, we have seen a large uplift in our junior memberships. All our memberships are open but if your junior is looking for structured RYA training, please be aware there may be a wait. Juniors that can already sail, are qualified and confident enough to join in with our club racing sessions, there is no wait after a successful pre-assessment. For more information or guidance, email babbacombe.corinthians@gmail.com***

We have an active junior dinghy sailing section that meets regularly throughout the sailing season. Why not learn to sail and get involved!

Babbacombe junior sailors have the opportunity to continue their training and develop their racing skills. Our instructors are always on the water providing a well supervised safe environment to learn while creating a fun atmosphere. Training is run on Friday evening’s so please speak to Guy Hester or Principle Training Officer for more information.

We are hoping to further increase our junior members, so if you have a child that is new to sailing and would like to learn, please see our learn to sail page for more information. Non members that can already sail to an RYA level, please get in touch about junior membership.

Southwest Junior Youth Sailing Academy.

BCSC have members who attend the South West Youth Sailing Academy. This is a wonderful opportunity for junior sailors to race children from other clubs as well as receive advanced tuition from ex-national RYA squad coaches. Over 50 children all sailing either in the Tera, Topper or Feva class attend structured weekends during the winter including venues like Royal Dart Yacht Club, Sutton Bingham SC, Paignton SC, Bristol Sailing Club and Royal Torbay. Any club junior who is interested in SWYSA please get in contact for more information.

Traveller Series & National Championships

We have juniors who go off and compete regularly in regional and national events. One of our juniors came third in the Southwest Tera Traveller series and was lucky enough to be presented with her prize at the Olympic venue in Weymouth. More recently, we’ve had a junior compete in the Tera Pro World Championships as part of the RS Games.
