Junior Sailing Continues Through September

‘It has been a challenge to get our Juniors back on the water and to ensure that we are providing as safe a sailing environment for them as possible given the current Covid pandemic. We have put in place a number of “covid-secure” procedures designed to minimise the risks of cross infection and are constantly reviewing them in line with Government and RYA guidance.

We returned to the water with Juniors Fun Racing sessions in late July and are now moving from Friday evening to weekend morning/afternoon sessions during September so we will make the absolute most of the short season this year. Three additional sessions – 13, 19 and 26 September have been planned so our juniors have not lost out on the number of original planned sessions. Make sure you sign up asap on Dutyman.

A parent of two of our regular junior sailors has recently commented ” ……..I think the sailing club have done things as safely as they possibly can, and as a parent of an “at risk” child feel confident for her to return to sailing……..in fact they both look forward to it and love it, the club has instilled a passion for sailing………we will definitely be back on the water next year”.

Testament indeed to the support and commitment of our volunteer instructors and safety teams to the junior section of our membership. I’m also pleased to say that our junior membership is expanding almost weekly as children from the age of 8 to 18 join up and which therefore bodes well for the future of our club.’
