Annual Prizegiving – Congrats to all the winners

From our VC Neil Mander.

“Many congratulations to all the winners at this years prizegiving. We had a good turnout of members and I think that everyone, who came along, had a good time.

Unfortunately, very few of our junior members were present – possibly the foul weather didn’t help – so a lot of certificates remain uncollected. There were, also, several adult members who weren’t around to collect their awards. We have included, below,  a copy of the presentation slides, so that you can have a look and see if your name is in the list. If it is, and you would like to collect your award certificate, we have put these into the pigeon-holes, next to the bar at the top club-house. If you are not sure where these are, please ask the bar person.

All the best wishes for a good Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Hope to see you in 2024″

Darryl Brown swept up a fine collection of silverware at the club’s 2023 prizegiving on Saturday, December 2.

The laser sailor took four racing trophies: Nostir Trophy (Summer Season Laser Class); Peter Powell Memorial Cup (Summer Season Mixed Fleet Winner); George Gill Trophy (Autumn Season Mixed Fleet Winner); and Commodore’s Cup (Autumn Season Laser Class).

Vice-Commodore Neil Mander warned Darryl not to be complacent, with laser sailor Simon Hobson snapping at his heels in every class.

The healthy junior squad were rewarded for their hard work over the year, with trophies and certificates going to Jason Paul, Dolly Geisler, Harry Pierce and Zaid Thomson and Harry Pierce.

Vice-Commodore Neil Mander said: “Many congratulations to all the winners at this year’s prizegiving. We had a good turnout of members and I think that everyone, who came along, had a good time.

Shore-side and safety boat support were not forgotten, with awards and commendations going to Denise Lane, Natalie Frazer, Issac Martin, Peter Pfeiffer, Abdullah Thomson, Karin Sundholm, Ian Scrase, Sheila Brewer and Allison Turner.

“All the silverware is back in the display cabinet, above the bar, so you can also look to see what trophy you might have had a chance to hold,” Neil said later.
