We sail in the spectacular amphitheatre of Babbacombe Bay. The beaches of Oddicombe and Babbacombe are overlooked by the high grassy esplanade of Babbacombe Downs. Our beach clubhouse can be reached by road or more scenically by the Babbacombe Cliff Railway.<\/p>\n

\"Sailing<\/p>\n

The sailing waters are usually calm as the prevailing south-westerlies blow over the Downs across the bay, however, Oddicombe can become a \u2018high energy\u2019 beach when easterly winds generate more wavy conditions.<\/p>\n

Our sailing season starts in early Spring, and we run several trophy series races between April and November, with individual trophy races along the way. We also mix up our racing with social sailing sessions, improvement training and the occasional passage race and picnic cruise. Club sailing is held on Tuesday evenings, and Saturday afternoons.<\/p>\n

A highlight is our Babbacombe Regatta which we hold annually over a weekend in June. Steep in history, this is one of the first recorded regattas held in the UK dating back to the 1820s. Club members and sailors from other clubs enjoy the competition and social events this event brings.<\/p>\n

When club racing, we usually sail two races back-to-back around a triangular course.<\/p>\n

We sail a mix of double and single-handers,<\/span> all of which sail under the PY Handicap system.<\/p>\n

New sailors are always welcome and we can offer training courses and opportunities to crew with our regular sailors<\/a>.<\/span> We have boats for hire and limited space in the boat park if you want to bring your own!<\/p>\n

Please be aware there are no longer ANY junior training courses or junior sailing activities in 2026. Check back in spring 2027 for future dates.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n
