The summer is here and what’s better than getting out on the water and cooling off in the beautiful Babbacombe Bay. We will be sailing every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday right through to the end of August. Tuesday and Sunday is club racing and Friday is Junior Night and Adult Social Sailing. Please come down and have a potter around the bay!
During the World Cup, in the Top Clubhouse, we will be showing as many games as possible live on our big screen. This will include all England matches. So don’t sit at home watching, please come up and watch amongst friends.
A polite message to our volunteers – we need your help! We are aware that so many help regularly and greatly appreciate this but with sailing sessions on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, we need to fill those slots especially on safetyboat. We need to have at least four safety boaters per session otherwise we can’t sail. Please have a look at Dutyman and pop your name against any you can do. If we can plan ahead abit, it will help. Thank you. Click to access Dutyman.

“Following what was undoubtedly a very successful ‘In House Music Night’ last December where the entertainment was provided almost exclusively by our own members, another has been organised for next Saturday night.
The Second in house Music night will include appearances by Mim and Dave Clark who together with their friend Paul, and now our friend as well, comprise the close harmony group Serenata. Also we have appearing, our very own All girl band ‘The Ukuladies’ fresh from their recent World Tour of Oddicombe Beach, that’s Jan Susie Lorna Julia Sally and Maria, all club members. Mike Low and Dave Clark will be reminding us of our mis spent teens by performing stuff by the singers of the 50’s 60’s & 70’s, and we also we have singer songwriter ‘India’ not exactly a member, but closely related to Mike & Jill so that’s good enough for me.
Now for all those fascinated by new fangled instruments, we might, in addition be able to persuade Mike to give us a demonstration of his newly acquired RISA, now what it is I don’t know, but I do know you have to plug it into an Amp so I’m bringing my earplugs just in case.
Unfortunately Reid Fleming is away and the Babbacombe Bay Rollers are missing Tony Allen who is in Brest ‘messing about in boats’ so you won’t have to listen to me. All in all this is going to be another extra ordinary evening of quality home spun entertainment, so come along and meet your friends at the club and listen to others put on performances that I feel are to a very high standard. Finally, at the last night those who came created a wonderful atmosphere and were considerate enough to keep the noise level of conversation low enough to give the participants a chance to be heard, and hopefully that will be the case next Saturday.”
